Mathematics at Education Always

Mathematics is one of the most important subjects in the Ghanaian school curriculum. It builds logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and numerical confidence that students need in everyday life and in all future career paths. At Education Always, we provide curriculum-aligned Mathematics content from Pre-School through to Senior High School, covering every major topic in the NaCCA and GES syllabi.

What You Will Find Here

This section contains lesson notes, practice questions, summary guides, and revision materials for Mathematics at all levels. Every piece of content is written to match what is taught in Ghanaian schools, using the language, context, and examples that Ghanaian students understand.

Mathematics by Level

Pre-School and Kindergarten (KG 1 and KG 2)

At the early childhood level, Mathematics focuses on building number awareness and basic counting skills. Children learn to count from 1 to 20, recognize shapes, sort objects by size and colour, and understand simple patterns. Our content for this level uses fun activities and picture-based learning to make numbers enjoyable.

Primary School (Basic 1 to Basic 6)

Primary Mathematics builds on early number sense and introduces more structured topics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, measurement, basic geometry, and simple data handling. By the end of Basic 6, students should be comfortable working with whole numbers up to millions, understanding fractions and percentages, and solving word problems in real-life contexts.

Junior High School (Basic 7 to Basic 9)

JHS Mathematics covers a wide range of topics that prepare students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Key areas include:

  • Number and Numeration – Place value, integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and proportions, indices, and standard form
  • Algebra – Linear equations, inequalities, simultaneous equations, quadratic expressions, and algebraic fractions
  • Geometry and Measurement – Angles, triangles, circles, polygons, area, perimeter, volume, surface area, and Pythagoras theorem
  • Statistics and Probability – Data collection, frequency tables, mean, median, mode, bar charts, pie charts, and basic probability
  • Vectors and Transformation – Column vectors, translation, reflection, rotation, and enlargement

Senior High School (SHS 1 to SHS 3)

SHS Core Mathematics deepens understanding of all JHS topics and introduces new areas such as calculus, matrices, sequences and series, logarithms, and more advanced statistics. Students preparing for WASSCE will find targeted revision materials in this section.
